Not in Vogue

How I’d Sink American Vogue is a project that King first developed for a show at New York gallery, PS1, last year. A less likely substitute for La Wintour it is hard to imagine, but with a background at i-D and Sleazenation, King knows a bit about the workings of the style press.

Serious funny attempt ..

Sun 23 Sept: A seriously funny attempt to get the Serious Fraud Office in the dock!

http://www.controlbae.org/

What a brilliant night of comedy..

Phil Nicol, Russell Brand, Mark Thomas, Omid Djalili, Mark Steel, Ed Byrne, Josie Long, Robin Ince, Stewart Lee, Jo Caulfield, Bill Bailey and Simon Amstel.

Everyone was absolutely brilliant, I laughed hardest at Stewart Lee and most at Phil Nicol, was such an ace time.. Everyone should contact their MP about the serious cause ..

Mark Thomas arranged this comedy night to raise money to support CAAT's and The Corner House's legal challenge to get the Serious Fraud Office investigation into allegations of bribery surrounding BAE Systems' arms deals with Saudi Arabia reopened.

Come on Tim!

Davis Cup @ Wimbledon.. Seems like a fitting finish for Tim Henman.

I've never been a fan, although I have sat through plenty of henman
cliff hangers.. He's always seemed a bit Daily Mail and sandwiches with
the crust cut off to me.. But I do admire and appreciate what he's done
for British tennis.

50 Years of Helvetica

Total Geek Post... but kinda not..

Obviously Geek is the new cool, but even that aside I was surprised that Time Out had a film about a font as it's pick of the week. 5 Stars (out of 6).

Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives.

... One highlight is an interview with German typographer and designer Erik Spiekermann who goes so far as to compare the uniform appearance of the font to Nazi soldiers marching in line. In fact, every one of Hustwit's shrewdly selected interviewees has extremely strong opinions on the subject, and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of generational or creative link as to why a designer will love or loathe the font; some see it as a design masterpiece which will never be bettered, others see it as emblemic of a creative drought and serves as nothing more than an easy design solution for lazy creatives.
